I've built a couple of AR15s, but have always used as supplied stocks and buffers with the weights supplied. The question is there any place that can educate me about stock length, buffer weights and springs? What kind of combinations will work the best for carbine length stock (adjustible) and full length fixed stocks and produce the lowest felt recoil? Is there a point where the action won't cycle because of the buffer weight/spring combination, or is that related only to the bullet weight?

Thanks for any help or links to read up on this topic.

Its going to depend on gas port location and size. For carbine, you have options, H H2 H3 buffers. A lot of people like H2 buffers with 5.56 ammo on both carbine and mid gas length. H3 work is your gun overgassed

For rifle length, standard weight works well with carbine and midlength, a light weight buffer with a lightweight carrier on a rifle length gas system will be the softest and smoothest shooter
