AR Question?

Should I be able to insert a loaded mag on a closed bolt? For some reason, when I try to load a full/partially loaded mag it won't seat. Unloaded mags seat with no problem.

Any ideas? Is this normal or is something afoot? Its been over 15 years, since I was in the Army, but I recall being able to load mags on a closed bolt.

Sometimes you have to give it a solid tap/slap to lock it in to place.

I have some H&K mags that won't seat if they are full. Try removing some rounds and see where it seats/won't seat. Some mags are funny like that - don't know why it happens.

Many load their mags to 27 or 28 rounds to accommodate this. I am not one of them and have learned to give the mag an extra pop, as Derek suggests...Works every time...

Pmags load fine with the bolt home and 30 rounds in the mag.

Thanks for the replies. I already had my mags loaded to 28, and many of them loaded after checking. Its about 50/50 that won't. I'll try reloading them and checking again.

as of now i have three mags, two of them will load up fine but one requires a love tap to get into place.
