Guy had a desert eagle listed on Armslist in MA. Was willing to take firearm +cash in trade. Cool!
He emails me back promptly, and we discuss and agree on trade terms. Cool!
He asks for my cell #. OK, proceeding smoothly.
We text back and forth on details. He's in Nantucket and never comes to the mainland.
OK, so how are we going to going to do an exchange? Have me come out there?
But he's out of transfers. He suggests using escrowshipping.ga for my funds and he can ship to my FFL.
I'm not generally a fan of west-african escrow services...
So he sends me a pic of him holding his army-issue ID...

More to come, lol

If you play your cards right I'll bet he throws in a $25 Million money laundering scheme for the low, low price of $2500! Just to cover wire transfers and all...

OMG! Please post pics of his mug shot.

:)

Tell him you will use your local FFL as the escrow agent. Even if you don't have an FFL willing to do this, it will be interesting to hear his excuses.

Is the desert Eagle on the roster? You'd have to do a face to face..

Wouldn't a local ffl not be able to transfer it to you?

Tell him you meet him at the Island, with a copy of your FFL,and you both can go to FEDEX,orUPS,and ship the gun.

There has to be an NES'er who is headed to the island or lives there. If you find someone, tell the seller you have someone who wants to inspect it first on your behalf.

Continued...verbatim

(me) Too bad, I wanted this one

(him) Okay we can use any other one [meaning escrow]

(me) How about I meet you in Wareham?

(him) If you want to meet, you have to make it all the way here, can't leave the island at this time of year, sorry. besides am out of trransfers for the year thought I told you

(me) If you can't leave the island, there's not way you can take receipt of my trade. That, plus a Gabon escrow service, lol

(him) I am a solder in the US Army, "I have been sent here for undercover, you don't seem to understand"
(him) pic of "him" holding his mil ID
(him) If you want to meet than come here.
(him)It will be useless since am out of transfers, but if you still want to, you are free
(him)I just googled the escrow service, that's how I came up with that one. ANy why does it even matter if it is not a US Company? don't other foreign companies operat3e here and still service customers well?? and we are US citizens use them.

(me) SPC [name], you know better than to use an African escrow account. If you can't come to the mainland there is no way for you to accept my [trade] unless I come to you. But if I do, you can't do transfer to me. Please send pic of MA-issue class A.

(him) that's why I said if you want, we can use any other Escrow company
(him) but you can send the receipt alongside all the documents and the pistol to the FFL, I will receive and sign it
(him) no you send yours first

So I sent him my class A with no number or pic or address, just my name showing.

(him) you covered the date as well?? how will I know if it's expired or not? why are you covering it all up even? I sent you a pic of me and my registration card, I didn't cover anything up

(me) your turn

pic of class A with *everything* covered, even his name. Maybe from the last would-be buyer?? [rolleyes]

(me) got a name on there?

(him) Please, I would not like to waste neither your time nor mine, if you are serious and interested, lets proceed. If not you are free to pass.

(me) send your gun to (my LGS) with a copy of your LTC and your phone number and a note. I will go to FFL and all three parties will get on speaker phone. I will Paypal gift you the full amount and you will instruct the FFL to transfer the gun to me. We'll forget about the [trade] and do straight cash.

OP, get him to take a picture of the DI next to the license plate of his car. Tell him your cop buddy will verify the whole Nantucket deal and his name etc.

I know someone who can help you, he has a construction project going on in Nantucket. He also has an 07 FFL.

BTW I get he isn't legit but if you want to keep the joke going....

How do escrow companies sort things out when the buyer says "He shipped me a brick, which is why he could provide a tracking number" and the seller says "I sent the product, here is the photo of me packing it and the tracking number, send my money"?

[him] I told you that I'm on an island. I have my military issued bicycle that I get around on.
[him] It's an undercover bicycle, of course.
[him] Here it is...

I dealt with the same guy. It took me all of 2 seconds to tell him to pound sand when I found out he was on Nantucket. Especially, when he started the conversation with "We do the trade on MY TERMS"

I just flagged the guy a s a scammer on Armslist because of this post.

that 's like the guy from Wash State that sent me a photo of "his" driver's license and LTC and asked me to do the same. When I called the Sheriff's Dept out there I found out this guy scammed the guy whose picos of licenses he was using out of $800 the previous year. Oh, BTW, he goes by Richard Morgan who is actually the guy he ripped off. He even used a Richard Morgan @ aol E mail.

Didn't even blink when I called him a Specialist. ("his" id says E6)

318-582-0598 if you want to txt the good man about his desert eagle. I'll give +1 rep to anyone who reports back that they texted him. [smile]
If he doesn't reply immediately, it may be because he's on a undercover operation on Nantucket...
