Ammo Question - '53 Colt Dectective

My 1953 ex-BPD Colt Detective is chambered for .38 special. Could it handle +P ammo? Or like any older piece, don't bother. I use Winchester Silver Tip 110gr JHP (.38 special) for my carry ammo.

I would not run +P in it.
Colt recommended if you do use +P to return it to colt every 2k rounds for inspection.
For range fun wad cutters or semi wadcutters are fun.

I would go pretty easy on this one. I have a few older revolvers and load pretty tame stuff for it. If you don't reload I would look for some ammunition meant for Cowboy Action shooting.
