Found a site that has some info on US ammo can production for those that may have a variety of cans (or boxes).

I never knew until about a year ago that people actually collect various ammo cans and some fetch a high $ amount. Some good info there.

I have a dozen or so WWII ammo cans that came from CMP.
They still work for their intended purposes...

I used to collect allot of ammo cans, crates, millitaria. (I've stopped I ran out of room to store it all.)

I stumbled across a Owens Illinois ammo can a couple years ago.

Then found a matching canteen cup for $1 at a tag sale less than month later.

Rare or special not really. I just never knew they made canteen cups. (Owens Illinois was a bottle manufacturer.)
