Just some pictures of a quick build I did over the weekend. I bought a Midlength rifle kit off a member planning to put a decent scope and mount on it. But as fate would have it someone gave me a 12" free float quad rail the next day for a price I couldn't pass up. With this new acquisition I thought it would be better suited on an A2 rifle I had built a few years ago. So I pulled the rifle barrel out of the A2 upper and put the mid length In it instead. I drilled and tapped an A2 sight I had kicking around for 6/32 set screws and went to work on shaving the middys A2 to fit under the hand guard that cam off the rifle. I can't decide if I like it with the A2 stock or the carbine stock though

Here's what it was supposed to be when I bought it lol, I'll follow up on the rifle when it's done here

Nice...been thinking of a dissipator for cmp modern military games for the added sight radius and less weight to use a heavier barrel.
I say A2 stock. The adjustable looks like Crap IMHO.
How much does that upper weight?
I might just go with the new cmp rules and go optics as my eyes are getting sucky

This is going to be my CMP gun., i'm not sure what it ways but it is a 16 inch mid gas heavy barrel.

my 20 inch was a tack driver off the bench with irons soon it will sport a free float tube, bipod and the scope pictured above.

just local fun cmp at your club or actual match ? there are a few different classes now for the AR in cmp. optics are now allowed in cmp matches with the AR in the EIC your limited to 11.5lbs total with a rilfe with 4.5x max magnification and max 32mm objective.
for the mondern military match total gun with optics is 8.5lbs

just local fun CMP, no need for matches here, only to hone my rifle shooting skills in a disciplined session.

I wonder if I can use just the back half of a cut down A2 front sight post? I have an old 14.5 bushmaster carbine barrel and you can almost get the midlength hand guard in over it, but not all the way... Hmm I may have to try some experimentation...

cool, cmp rules for the MM matches are a bit messed up and unclear, to me anyway.
I would say on the stock which ever fits/feels better. For me thats a A1 length stock so I can get right up to the rear sight. Sitting position for me with the A2 is tough. its amazing how much 5/8" makes.

So here's the other 2 builds that came out of the dissapator (can you only build 1 at a time? I've Never tried) had to cut the A2 off my old trusty bushmaster to get the quad rail nut on. And I put a cheap Keymod on the 20" . I just bought a new house with 40-50 acres behind it and it's time to put some dogs down! Should make a fine coyote rifle.

The first picture is the original bushmaster and the quad rail on the 20" rifle

I been trying to get out in my area for some coyote hunting. Not much open space here that's not private property. Been trying to get on the few farms around me.

Yeah I went for a walk around the new property and can't wait for closing. We are going to put some bait out tomorrow and get them in a pattern we can exploit
