you ask for a national standard permit to carry and you start messing with state's rights as well.

I wish the goverment would make one permit nation wide. Less face it. If we are deemed "suitable" to carry in one state should we not be able to carry anywhere in the country?

Indeed... That and the BOR as it is written is a constraint on government not (as you say) a grant of rights to the people...Remember, if rights are given to us, they can be taken away.
