If that was true then your friend wouldn't have anything to worry about, now would he? The reality is that SOME of you "can't stand this BS". Only A FEW of you would actually refuse to enforce it when ordered to do so. MOST of you wouldn't even hesitate.

One thing to consider when contemplating regestering lowers, or considering what price to pay for a "pre-ban" lower.

The latest draft of the grandfathering exemption is for ARs (and lowers, assuming the part removing the lower/frame loophole remains in the legislation) registered prior to the HealyBan. If that wording "sticks" proving the lower was made, and even in MA, before the HealyBan may not be enough to render it legal .... and registering a lower post HealyBan is a setup for action such as prosecution; confiscation; or threats to persons not 'voluntarily' surrendering such items, or just being denounced as unsuitable at renewal time because MIRCS shows you have a registered but non-grandfathered gun.

So we have:

- Pre 86 Ban
- Pre 2016 Healy Ban without MA registration
- Pre 2016 Healy Ban with MIRCS registration

Each form of "Pre-ban" coming with it's own set of legal issues, the exact nature of which we cannot understand until the current stool of legislation passes from the legislative large intestine.

If your intent is to go 100% legal be cautious of "pre-ban" ARs that the seller cannot prove were registered pre-HealyBan. Those who prefer civil disobedience may prefer non-MIRCS ARs and lowers.

That’s a lot of assumptions man. I like to think I’m pretty well versed on constituonal law but MA gun laws are far from Constitutional.

I’m not your enemy here. I’m the guy who would look the other way if you’re not hurting anyone and I know many others who share the same attitude… I know I cannot speak for all MA LEOs but I genuinely don’t know anyone who supports this nonsense.

Isn't that by design? They make this sh*t confusing on purpose for exactly this reason. Guy came in here (regardless of intent) and asked what should be a simple question and got half a dozen different answers.

I do worry for you.. it’s bullshit and wish I could do more to change it but I am just one cog in the machine. Like I said. Been plotting my exit for some time now - both from the job and the state.
