Would you ever leave a gun at work?

You specifically mention your car. Why don't you just lock it up in you car. Use a good lock-box, bolted down under the seat. It works even better if you're driving your car to the other site.

If he's driving to a secure site they will or can search the car, and probably have a prohibition on weapons on site. Army base etc.

I have the same issue as kalash. Can't store anything in the car cause I go onto secure sites.

I have a lockbox both in my car and in my office.
I run my own business and own the building so its not a problem
In my office it is a quick access safe that is totally concealed but can get to it in seconds. I work late and am often alone in large building by myself.
During the day my office is locked and I am the only one with access.

I had a friend who did...that said I have my own office and a desk with a locking metal drawer. But its against company policy to have firearms on premises and even if that wasn't the case I still wouldn't. I don't like storing forearms anyplace that I down Own.

Maybe if I worked at an abortion clinic...cause people be crazy. Its a womans body, she can do what she wants with it.

But he didn't say this.

Let's all play the NES "what if" game, reality be dammed.

I put my carry gun in a wall-mounted safe during the work day. Only once have I accidentally forgot it when I left work. I was halfway home and realized I was gun-less. I felt like a complete dumb-ass. In my defense it was a seriously long and stressful day. But no, generally I don't ever leave any guns at my work.

JFC how is it still unclear that I don't want to keep the gun in my car?

Well then, you answered your own question if you can't carry on your person, which leaves you with 2 options:

1) Don't bring it to work.
2) Lock it up at work if you can't bring it to wherever you're going.

What's missing is the why. And it would only be when you are at the other site, not when you are at your office, which is where you expressed that you didn't want it in your car (which is perfectly understandable). I just don't see any reason to dream up "what if" scenarios with no basis in facts.

Obviously the car is not an option, legal or otherwise. There is no why necessary.

Please explain the legal problem with it. And why is this obvious? It seems to be the simplest solution. The idea of leaving it in the office where it's discovery, when transferring it or when left there (remember, no lock on his office door), could cause a serious problem, is inviting a confrontation with HR. Sometime people create their own problems.

I've been in the same situation myself, except I was in a cube at that time. And the simplest solution worked great.

Think this:

**PRIVATELY OWNED FIREARMS- If you are in possession of a Privately Owned Weapon you MUST stop at the Fort Hood Visitor Center BLDG 69012 prior to entering the installation to register your firearm (s). NO EXCEPTIONS !!!!!

The OP makes absolutely no mention of going to such a facility. In fact, the OP states he does not "want" to leave his gun in his car, NOT that he can't.

I have two safes bolted to the wall in my office. I have drivers that carry that might have a delivery to a school, Federal Bldg or a State they're not licensed in. They give me their gun and I lock it up for them until they get back.
We're a Pro-2A Business so there's not issue. INAL, but to answer your question, I would think locking up your Firearm in a lock box in your locked desk would me the storage requirements for Massachusetts.

Biggest question is, would your coworkers or any non-employees be disturbed by seeing your firearm leave concealment before entering a secure container? There's always a risk that someone will see. Would it violate any company policies to store it there? Definitely not worth losing a job over.
Agreed. Too many liberal busybodies in the place where I work. If they ever saw a gun, or even a pocketknife for that matter, they would make a beeline to the boss's office to turn me in. If they ever found out about my BCD, I would be turned in to Human Resources, immediately fired, and escorted out the door by security with box of personal belongings in hand. I keep things very quiet at work. I do my job and go home. Risking livelihood is foolish and not worth it to me.

Side question: do they turn you away if you're an armed, authorized visitor or contractor? Or do they just store your weapon for you?

Never visited a military installation since I've started carrying so it never came up.

And why is this obvious?
Because I've only said it half a dozen ****ing times. I'm not leaving it in the car - maybe I just don't feel comfortable doing so, maybe my car is a model targeted by thieves, maybe sketchy characters hang out in the parking lot, maybe I go to military bases like bigblue said, maybe my coworkers take my car to lunch sometimes - doesn't matter what the reason is.

Still back to two options. Leave it home or locked up in your desk if you cannot carry it with you. Why is this a difficult decision?

I know that those are the options - I said so in the OP. Just looking for opinions as to which option is better.

LOL does it matter? No, it doesn't. He doesn't want to leave the gun in the car. The reason is irrelevant.

and in 50 posts NES demonstrates why asking for any kind of opinion or advice is an exercise in frustration and reading comprehension failure. wtf?

Just be happy I didn't ask which caliber gun to keep in the office or how to reinforce the walls.

I think you should get a Glock .40 and lock it up in your desk. (I figure we need to cause maximum jimmy rustling...)

Do you think .40 is really the best for desk pops? What if ISIS attacks my small office in the burbs?

Do you think .40 is really the best for desk pops?

Yes, absolutely!!!! Or if the recoil is too much you can use 5.7 x 28.

What if ISIS attacks my small office in the burbs?

Then you need to just take this cue from The Accountant....

100% of the big companies that I have worked for in the past would fire you if you stored a gun in your workplace.
