Why no Bayonet?

Most of the time, when I pull the trigger, multiple little projectiles come out, but I was poking around in this sub-forum, and followed a link to a CMP rules site.

IIRC, there was a prohibition against having a bayonet mounted.


Now....if there's a benefit to having the bayo attached, what is it?

If there's a detriment, why would it be disallowed? Can't you handicap yourself?

For some rifles, having a bayonet mounted improves accuracy (by acting as a dampener).
