I'm shooting with a buddy today. I have a standard AR15 with a Rock River Arms A2 upper, 16in barrel. My buddy is shooting his new Sig P556. We're using the same ammo and his gun is LOUD as hell. Way louder than mine using the same ammo. Anyone know why?

Muzzle brake on his but not on yours?
Or the ports on the muzzle brake were redirecting it all to you. I had my hat blown off from the gust created by the brake on a bushmaster, but it only happened if I stood in just the right spot.
They are loud because the barrel is only 10.5" and you get one heck of a fireball coming out of the business end. Also the gas piston housing has vent holes in it that also lets some of the blast out. Fun gun to shoot, but better when SBR'd:

Does not seem to be all that different behind the trigger (than an A2-style comp/break), but unless I am alone, I get a comment - either strong positive or strong negative...
Yea the comp is gonna make it louder.. Can't wait to get my comp on my LR308.. gonna piss some people off
