OK, $26 Billion estimated for damages, there's looting, the cops and the Nat'l Guard are (and I quote) "pushing aside" the dead bodies because they're concentrating on the living, so what I want to know is...

Where is the F*ckin' UN and the rest of the Goddamned world now that we need them???

I mean, they're quick enough to criticize US when they think we're not helping enough for things like the tsunami that pasteurized the Pacific - so where's the reciprocal help? And why isn't the friggin' media even saying anything about the lack of it???

Some days I think that the rest of the world can go to hell their own way. Without any help from us.

Someone, please tell me that I'm wrong and that French HazMat crews are on their way, and German rescue workers are on the next flight, and Canadian power workers are driving down even as I type this to help restore power... please?

You're preaching to the choir Ross. The rest of the world hates us. Jealousy works in mysterious ways.

You want to know where they are? There sittin around saying "good, I'm glad" the pieces of $hit. Everyone of them can suck my balls. Forget that there not even good enough for them. I wouldn't give them the rise of their life to say they were so lucky to suck an American ball. Every country that does nothing can kiss my big fat ass.

Ya gotta stop repressin' your emotions, TypeO, and tell us how you really feel. [lol] [lol] [lol]

Seriously, I hear you loud and clear. It just pisses me off so that we're considered loud and uncouth tourists... until they need our money. And when we need some help? Hear them crickets? That's all I hear... I sure don't hear anyone volunteering to help!

Ross

The only point you'd be wrong on is likely to be the Canadien power workers. Every time there's a big blizzard or ice storm up there, telephone and power company employees from US companies head north to help, and the same thing happens when we have wide spread outages due to some disaster. It's sort of like the mutual assistance agreements that fire departments have. Chelmsford covers Westford or Lowell during a major incident, and vice versa. My brother has had crews from Mexico covering some of his stations during major fires and he's covered all over the US, Mexico and Canada when he was with US Forestry Service. Other than those exceptions, don't hold your breath.

And you won't luv. I was going to respond somewhat like Typeo did, however, I'm lacking certain parts that he mentioned. The cost of this natural disaster is only beginning to be felt. Just wait until the winter hits... heating bills will be through the roof and then some.

And the Libs are already singing their "global warming" song. They can BITE me.

That makes me feel a bit better, at least. Nice to know that there are SOME other countries that are willing to help.

Why would they want to help us? That's like if Bill Gates went bankrupt and he expected us to send him donations to keep him going strong.

Sometimes being king of the mountain is a lonely thing...

We don't need them anyway. That's why we should close the frickin' borders. But that's a whole other topic.

I would but the post would get ripped down faster then a Smith&Wesson poster at the DNC.

Just heard a small, short blip that Germany is going to send (or some such) some help. Don't know what, when or how, but they've offered assistance. So, in that case, they're only mild a-holes now. I'll hold off until I find out what it is they're going to do to help.

I herd they were going to help keep people warm by burning books.

j/k I am glad they will help

I say they're still way big A-Holes. The only reason they offered help is to try and embarrass us to the world.

You got that right. They don't want to burn what little trade bridge that is left.

I know that we're not the UN, but I guess that people from other countries are going to be able to donate in a round about way.

Turns out that our company is putting together a relief fund soley by donations from our employees. Being that we're a world wide company, I can see people donating in other contries that work for us.

I know that the employees of our company were able to raise over a million or so for the tsunami, so I'm guessing that we would be able to do it again for the NOLA relief fund.

I also heard a little while ago that the Brits have offered help, as well as Israel. Actually, I think Israel offered first by the sound of it.

I'd have expected it from the Brits and the Israelis. The Germans surprised me... and I'm not surprised at all to hear a deafening NOTHING from Saudi, Kuwait (our "allies"), India & Indonesia (didn't we just send a LOT of help over there recently? [/sarcasm]).

Still... all I can think is "those poor people." To have your home wiped out - flooded - to know that you probably don't even have a place to work!

Yeah...huh? But for the grace of God... (whichever one you believe, or don't, believe in)

It's nice that they're going to help. But what sort of help can they offer us? Is it just financial- or are they going to fly people over here with pledge wipes and hefty bags?

Well, I will know shortly if my sister is going down to NOLA because she is part of a FEMA crew out of Washington State. She trained for stuff like this. From what my mom said right now its optional for her crew to go. (This was a few days ago too, so it might have changed.)

Here's an offer of assistance:

"CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, a vocal critic of the U.S. government, on Wednesday called President Bush a "cowboy" who had failed to manage the Hurricane Katrina disaster and evacuate victims.

"That government had no evacuation plan, it is incredible, the first power in the world that is so involved in Iraq ... and left its own population adrift," Chavez said in a cabinet meeting broadcast live on television.

His remarks came as U.S. authorities evacuated thousands of people from New Orleans and after Bush said it would take years to recover from flooding caused by Hurricane Katrina.

The death toll on Wednesday reached at least 200 in what Bush called the nation's worst natural disaster.

"That man, the king of vacations ... the king of vacations in his ranch said nothing but, you have to flee, and didn't say how ... that cowboy, the cowboy mentality," said Chavez, chuckling in a reference to Bush without naming him directly.

Chavez, an outspoken populist who calls Cuba's Fidel Castro an ally, often lambastes what he calls Washington's failed imperialist policies. He says the Bush administration is trying to assassinate him and calls the U.S. president "Mr. Danger."

The two governments frequently clash though the United States is the top oil client of Venezuela, the world's No. 5 crude exporter. Washington portrays Chavez as a menace who uses his nation's oil wealth to fund anti-democratic groups.

The Venezuelan president, applauded by supporters for his self-proclaimed socialist revolution to fight poverty, has offered to send cheap fuel, humanitarian aid and relief workers to the disaster area.

Venezuelan state oil firm PDVSA has offered $1 million from its U.S.-based refinery unit Citgo for relief efforts."

He's nothing more than Castro's "mini-me".
Didn't help having Jesse Jackson down there kissing his ass the other day too. Chavez says that he'll make low cost oil available to the US "poor".
Yipping along like a pain in the ass chiuaua.
