What, no IDPA this weekend?

I received the following from Gene, who I believe is the MD. It's the next IDPA match I know of.
(This is at Harvard)

"Hello, shooters.
MWT invites you all to challenge the weather at our 3-rd Annual Frozen Penguin IDPA Match.
Date: Saturday, January 26, 2007
Time: 9:15 am - 2:00 pm (hopefully)
The match will feature 3 outdoor and 1 indoor stages.

This match is open to the public. No pre-registration is necessary.
Bring your friends to shoot with us."

I also received this from RGS (and from Tim Kent) of Bass River.

“HO HO HO

Anyone up for an impromptu steel match Jan 6th? If its not too cold I thought we could set up 3 stages in the morning in pits 1 -3 (leaving the 100 yard range open for members) and only charge 15 bucks. ($10 for those that help set up in the AM) Easy set up and we have more steel now.
Pass it on and let me know your thoughts. It should be good enough to get 15 - 20 shooters.

Tim”

Is this a go for Sunday?

I never did just a steel match. How is it scored ?

szaino,

I don't know if it is a go, I just sent RGS an e-mail asking him and I will let you know as soon as I do.

I think they might score the match based on time and points. That is points per steel target hit, minus a penalty per target missed, divided by the time in seconds giving you points per second. Or something like that.

Bass River is a good club, with very good people with some really good shooters.

I am going to assume the 9:30 time. Their web site is down also (as of 8pm Fri) so I cant print out directions. Been there a few times, but I really would like to have directions again. Anyone???? Email me direct please if you have the 411 on directions to the club.

Take route 290 toward Worcester to route 140 toward W. Boylston. Go about a mile and on the left is Sewall Street. (I think it’s Sewall street) The range is down about 1/2 of a mile on the left.

9:30 is correct. The 8:30 email is an autoreminder; Turin sent out a correction to 9:30.

Good match yesterday and almost perfect weather. I shot OK, but not great for me. Could not seem to get my Rhythm going, but bullets down range is what matters, and I hit what I aimed at, so it's all good.

Jay Farmer MD, came up with 5 very good stages. We had 25+ shooters with many new face to boot!

I really like the later starting time. In fact next month's WPR IDPA Match will also start with a 9:30am briefing as I will be the MD.

Thanks to all the folks that bring a friend!

+1. This was my first match, and I had a great time. I especially liked the bowling pin stage, the pick up a shotgun stage (first time I'd ever fired a shotgun in my life), and the drag your 'buddy' back stage.

My goals for the match were to be safe and have fun, and I achieved both. I'm still eagerly awaiting the scores though [wink]. I definitely plan to be a regular at the matches. Can't wait for harvard on the 26th.

Jon,
Congratulations on winning the shoot and edging Doctor Joffee by 0.19 seconds, nice shooting!

Will,
I'll check for IDPA matches when I get home. There is a steel match at Bass River on Sunday I think.

Worcester has an IDPA match Saturday 8 March.

I doubt it, but only the MD would know for sure. They've said in the past that they run rain or shine. As one of the training schools says, "combat conditions at no extra charge".

We will be hold the match at WPRC rain or shine. Our club has a 'no shooting before noon' on sunday rule, which makes sunday matches a PITA.

Hope to see you all in the mud and rain.

AE,
That was a nice match you guys put on today. Congratulations on your win!
