Just spent a day hunting in western ma near charlemont. No beachnuts in the trees, must have suffered from the wet spring. But more importantly, I could barely make it thru the woods. The entire mountain top was covered with blowdown trees. Literally, every 20 feet you had to crawl over a tree lying sideways. Could not even walk along some of the logging roads. After 4 hours of that I was exhausted! what happened out there, tornado?

I did see a male moose though--young adult. Kind of chased/followed me for 100', then gave up. He was probably tired of walking thru the blowdown too!

GPS cords where I can bring my truck and a chainsaw? [wink] Firewood prices are still retaaahted.

Anywhere west of Rte 112 with an altitude above 1000 ft would be a good place to look......of course, we've been scavenging all the easy places since December!

[grin]
