Went to the range today

I went to the range today and brought a few classics along.....

My 1938 S/42.....

My G33/40.... This always attracts at least one Mauser enthusiast.

And my winter carry, a classic JMB special....

In addition, two friend brought a Mosin 91/30, Enfield No.4 Mk2, M1 Carbine, and a S&W Model 36 Chiefs Special.

Hard to tell by the pics, but is the slide on that 1911 an original USGI? Frame too?

No it's a Caspian frame and Colt slide. I bought that as a shooter.... I didn't want to put any unnecessary stress on my classic GI's.

Very nice Luger & G 33/40.
In 2 weeks I'll know whether I have one of the 33/40's, too

Thanks! The Luger is a Russian capture. I have a couple of them but that's my shooter. It's all matching except for the magazine and side plate.

It's just as safe to shoot your GI 1911's as it is your Luger.

True, but that's why I use the RC for the shooter.... I'd be bummed if either the Caspian or the Luger had issues but it wouldn't be the end of the world.
