Just got a u notch glock magazine, 15 rounds (Massachusetts). I'm trying to replace the spring, insert and baseplate. Anyone have the part numbers I need to order? IT is metal lined, at least partially....Wasn't positive on what to order.

The U-notch mags have a different base plate, and possibly follower, than the later square-notch mags.

Ya I'm going to order a standad spring, but I'm still searching into what follower to order....Might have better luck just calling glock tomorrow

I have those same preban Glock 19 NFML (Non full metal lined) U notch 15 rnd mags.
I recently placed an order straight from the manufacturer (Glock Inc.) for those same parts.
They had the cheapest prices for those parts.
Everything was in stock and arrived in about a week and a half from the day ordered.

Baseplate: $2.00

Magazine spring: $4.00

Good to know someone was in the same boat. Thank you.....do your mags drop when you press the mag release in, or do they stay in the frame??

They do not drop free.
They were new in the clear factory plastic packaging when I received them.
They seem a little thicker at the top of the mag and have to be pulled out of the magazine well.

The newer style square notch preban FML (Full metal lined) mags drop free.
These older U notch mags do not. But at least they work well!

This video shows the U notch mags vs. newer produced mags.

Magazine floor plate: 455
Magazine insert: 5572
Mag spring: 33509
9mm3 Follower: 1812-3

U notch mags only reliably feed Gen 4 when using a 9mm3 follower.
Keep in mind that you can not switch the mag release for a left handed shooter.

Sorry for digging this thread back up but what’s the current consensus on upgrading u notch G17 mags? I see posts recommending 9mm3 followers, posts saying that 9mm6 followers + a little sanding are the real solution, people talking about changing springs, etc. Any suggestions? This is for a gen 5 34. Right now the u notches I have don’t drop when empty, and only drop a tiny bit when you really press the mag release in.

no matter what much you will try to do to an old U-notch, it is not gonna get much better, unfortunately. square notch ones cost much more for a reason.
for competition shooting just get all new gen5 10 rounders, i would not waste too much time with u-notch antiques.

Yeah, I figured. I have a bunch of gen 5 ten rounders but wanted to see what I could do with these u notches I have.

you can load it up and keep it in the gun - but even there it still can split, potentially.
there are plenty of people who still hunt for them - you can sell them, not at reptile prices :) - but at some realistic prices on the gunbroker they will go fine.

I have both u notch and square notch, for my glock 19's and glock 21SF. They both work flawlessly. The u notch is desined to dissengage when full , but not drop free. That's a good thing. You hit the mag release at the wrong time and at night and you'll be fumbling around in the dark looking for your magazine, with your square notch, instead of shooting back. With the u notch, just tap it back into place and your back to defending yourself. By the way, all of my u notch magazines, do drop free, when empty. Oh and I've never had, or seen a metel lined, u notch, glock magazine split. Only the older, non metel lined u notch magazines, split with age and multiple reloadings.
