The garlic on the windowsill started sprouting and I joked to the Mrs. That we should plant one. 3 days later in a fit to fight boredom I did. I got a small pot about the size of a big coffee cup and some random dirt from a debunked plant on the patio and stuck it back on the windowsill.

After about 3 weeks the leaves are about 24" tall with 4 leaves. I may need to transplant at some point but I'm going to wait another few weeks and see what I get.

I started with a single clove from the bunch so I'm interested to see what I get for a plant come August.

All my research shows I've done everything wrong:
Store bought clove not seed
Small pot
Blahblahblah

What else is new for me? Not much.

So there it is, Frawnkensteen's Garden is now alive, Ah-live, ALIVE!

Further updates as events warrent

40 Clove Chicken from "The Stinking Rose" in San Francisco... The following day I could smell myself even just out of the shower.

Look into growing garlic... It may take two seasons, or until the following spring, to be harvestable.

I hate garlic. Just the smell makes my sick.

96.4 percent (I am totally making that number up) of the planet hates you and thinks you are probably a vampire.

Also, if you find any garlic, can I have it?

Mine too. Garlic is non-negotiable. When I start cooking, the first thing it do is mince garlic and chop some onions.

and that's just for the cakes and pies.....

24 post and not a single one has had anything to do with growing garlic - I'm not disappointed or surprised just hoping for more experiences.

OK - Vampire Free Since 2016!

I planted it in MA, and it didn't thrive.

I planted it in NH, and the critters kept eating the leaves. No garlic

Update:
Leaves are 20" at the tips.
I transplanted it because the leaves have been droopy and the plant wasn't doing well. I'm hoping potting soil and a Cialis will help it recover - roots are showing but the small pot I had it in was insufficient and I think it choked out. I'll give it a couple days and drop some miracle grow in it.

Garlic likes to have a lot of compost around it. When planed outside it helps keep the temp even because garlic doesn't like quick temp changes. Not sure how well that is going to do inside? I plant in fall and it comes up in springtime, around July it is ready to be dug up and hung out to dry.
