Tap and Rack

The most important thing is to do this a lot with dummy rounds, so that you can clear the MALF without thinking. BTW, if when you are starting the tap - rack you see that it is a type 3 just transition to the Type 3 clearance. Keeping your eyes open helps a lot and can save some time.

For those of you that have trouble remembering all the steps, here is a simple way that will fix all of the following:
Type 1
Type 2
Type 3
Out of battery
Out of ammo

Remove Magazine (You may have to lock the slide back first on some guns)
Rack the slide 3 times vigorously
Insert new magazine
Rack slide (only one time)
Shoot, if necessary

I love Clint Smith. I've only seen his short web videos like this one. I really should pony up for some of his full length DVDs. Jim, any chance of bringing him to NE in 2009?

Great video, I teach these techniques using dummy rounds to the basic safety classes as well as personal protection classes, cudos to the dummy rounds.....
