Newly-released surveillance video shows the moment a retired Washington, D.C., lieutenant shot and killed 25-year-old Maurica Manyan during police training at Anacostia Library last year.

The shooter was sentenced to three years in prison last month, according to FOX 5 DC, but the family wants more to be done.

"The Manyan Family is committed to making sure the public is granted access to the surveillance footage because the events that led to the death of Officer Manyan are a matter of grave public concern," a statement from attorney Chelsea Lewis of Lewis Law Esq. read.

I hope that fool goes to jail for life,or better yet blows his brains out.
Did you see his lawyer,he is being defended by Steve Urkel.

So "believing" that you had a dummy training gun lessens the sentence after "jokingly" whipping out a gun and pointing it at someone (and pulling the damn trigger nonetheless) leading to instant murder?

Also, RIP to the victim. That was life-ended in a flash for no reason. If only law-enforcement knew or cared about the 4 rules.

As a former UoF trainer, how the ever loving F does this happen?

We set up 3 layers between the clean area and the 'hot' area. You had instructors search you, then peer pat downs, then enter the training area. We trained thousands every year, never even heard of something like this happening in my old group.

Almost had some 'bad' situations with live fire at night, but never in a 'no gun' zone.
