My daughter was home for Thanksgiving, and wanted to get a range day in before she left. As rabid Pats fans, we normally spend Sunday afternoon glued to the tube, but since the Pats game on Sunday promised to be a yawner, we decided to TiVo it and head to the range. Kind of rainy, so we chose Granite State Indoor Range, just to be sure.

Warmup was with handguns first. Here she is with the S&W M&P Shield 380 EZ. She really likes it, and I think I'm going to lose it here real soon.

Take that, slide...

That's 112 rounds (14 mags straight) and a 24K smile.

After that, it was on to the SBR's, like this 9mm AR15.

She wanted to play "shoot out all the red" like the cheesy carny game.

Great afternoon, and I got much stronger while at the range. The bags were very heavy going in, but surprisingly light coming out. I long ago decided that any time she says she wanted to shoot, I'm going to whatever it takes to accommodate that, and make it as easy as possible. I load up all the mags in advance, sherpa all the gear, and put it all away after. Whatever it takes to keep her an enthusiastic shooter/spokeswoman. She converts two friends, and they convert two friends, and so on, and so on.

The only problem was driving home without finding out the score of the game before I could get to the TiVo...

Awesome! Similar day with my daughters Saturday. Breakfast with my father who came for turkey from Florida. Then off to the range (we sucked it up outside at Westford) for pistol day.

19 y/o back from Salem State and 17 y/o and her boyfriend, his first time shooting anything other than a bb gun. Started him off with a Ruger single six, then 38/357 in the GP100 6", then my e-Series 1911, then the SuperRedhawk 44mag. Shot them all like a boss. Good kid:) daughter was happy:)

Looks like you both had a great time! If she doesnt already have her LTC, and assuming she moves back after college, I run courses in Lowell.
I thought about making a separate thread but it seems just as appropriate here. I too had fun at the range this past weekend, Friday I took my 15 year old sister shooting for her first time ever. Started on the 25 yard target with my AR and her groups were quarter sized after about 20 rounds. Then we went to the 100 yard steel hangers to see if she could hit them since she was doing good on the 25. Yeah it was quite a jump but I had a feeling...
She batted 1.000 hitting the steel for another 30+ rounds.

Clearly she had a miserable time...

Like you said, if you can convince one person and they do another, its absolutely worth making it fun to get them hooked.

Yep, beautiful young lady (and I mean that respectfully as I don’t want to get punched in the face if you and I ever meet! lol) and she can shoot like a champ too.

You did great Dad and have every reason to be proud as hell. Happy for ya brother.

Can’t overstate the importance of what you guys are doing with the youngins, countering all the negative press BS and fear mongering with some good old fashioned clean and safe family fun. Kudos to you all who do this.

I can tell you from a 50yr old mans point of view who has now carried guns professionally for the last 30yrs, I still remember like it was yesterday the first time my dad took me shooting at 12yrs old. Those memories will last a lifetime.

Good job, dad!

Unfortunately my 25 year-old son isn't man enough for me to even ask if she's single. Doesn't like football. Went to the range a couple times, years ago, but is a typical MA college educated liberal socialist wannabe. sigh...

Great job Dad
She should give lessons to some of the people on here.

Resident instructor as soon as we resume NES shoots? I guarantee all the guys will not only pay attention, they will be motivated to keep all their shots at least minute of berm. :D

OP,

Stunning daughter, great shooting, fantastic smile. A real winning combination! [thumbsup]

Ditto for DarthRevan!

That’s a serious and honest smile on her face. Great job... and clearly a smart girl too

It's perfectly acceptable to take a mulligan on your first attempt.

Glad to see everyone, for once, are behaving like gentlemen.
