I'm looking for recommendations for a shoulder pad for shooting my 30-06 Remington 700BDL.
I need to get in some serious range time with this and the old shoulder is starting to talk back
to me lately. I'm a big guy and don't want to get a coat so I'm looking for one of the pads
that strap on. Anyone own one, use it, and want to recommend it?

Thanks,

TBP

I have a PAST Mag Recoil Shield PAST Site that's worked well. It's best day was letting me put 650 rounds of surplus ammo through a Mosin M38 and a Steyr M95, both rifles with steel buttplates and too damn light for the cartridge they shoot. I stopped shooting when my shoulder was tired from fighting recoil - but not sore. [smile]

The down side is that it will noticeably change your length of pull - the pad is about 1/2" thick. The feel of the rifle changes, and the sights seemed a little too far away. They make a field version that's 1/4", and a super mag that's 1", so there are options.

If I lost it, I'd buy it again.
