Looking at my Saiga 12 the other day I realized it was boring and plain compared to some of the customized ones I've seen on the Saiga12 forums.
I haven't researched it completely but from I can gather doing the AK converison with pistol grip is illegal here in Mass since we still have an AWB. Something about the fact that the Saiga shotgun has a detachable magazine, etc.
Besides, even if it can legally be done you still have to play the compliance game with a number of US parts and I've read mixed reports on what parts are ok and what aren't. Then there is the smithing work in moving the trigger assembly. I've heard its an easy to do job, even for newbie AK folks, but if it was that easy Tromix wouldn't be backlogged with orders for people wanting their Saigas converted to Russian military style.
All that said, the free world can have side folding stocks, 10 round magazines, even drums. For me its the "little things" that make the gun seem more fun.
Yesterday I added a few goodies from Delta Force. A shotgun butt stock pack with shell holder and cheek rest, and tactical shotgun sling. The butt stock pack has a zippered compartment for goodies or ammo. I'll planning on adding a side mount sight, just not sure what type and will probably keep extra batteries for the sight in the pouch.
Aside from a red dot type sight, the only other things I think I'll add is a Tromix muzzle brake since it just screws on the barrel, and maybe port the handguard.
