RI AWB Introduced

Being an election year after 3 mass shootings, it's as good as passed, but the part about registering "grandfathered" guns is unconstitutional as the RI Constitution prohibits any form of registering firearms or the owners of firearms.

RI 11-47-41 explicitly prohibits firearms:
No government agency of this state or its political subdivisions shall keep or cause to be kept any list or register of privately owned firearms or any list or register of the owners of those firearms; provided, that the provisions of this section shall not apply to firearms which have been used in committing any crime of violence, nor to any person who has been convicted of a crime of violence.

What is this constitution you speak of?
I wish it was Article 1, Section 22

Yeah, and so the registration of grandfathered weapons will not be upheld. AWB will still exist, but just keep your AR with the evil collapsible stock at home.

I'm fixing on leaving in April/May, so I don't really care.

Yup, I am quite certain that this year they intend on learning from our testimony on how to tweak the language of the bill to make it more palatable to the legislature.

I think they'll get their "Red flag bill" this year. Think the AWB will end up "held for further study" because it is so poorly written. However, within the next few years RI will pass an AWB. Writing is on the wall cuz these idiot politicians and even more so the stupid incompetent idiots at the department of education can't keep kids safe in school. Gun bans aren't going to fix anything

Sorry to see this happening to you folks in R.I. and the gun shops that will close due to this action.
Very true. Apart from a shop like D&L or Dick's, the lgs stores are going to be in bad shape from the result of this.

And as a result the prices of guns and ffl transfers is going to skyrocket.

Yeah. Local gun shops in my area of Ma., that were charging $25.00 for transfers, for the most part, went to $50.00 for transfers.

Looks like dildos, inflatable dolls and lube would still be legal to purchase?

If I hadn't bought my house last year, I would be lobbying my wife to move to NH.

We've been having exactly that discussion. We were considering the RI coast, which is absolutely wonderful, but not now. Its seeming more like the escape plan is going to be a small house in NH and if possible a condo in GA for the winters and a secondary level escape. Not sure how much longer we can hold out here. The pace for an out and out Socialist take-over is ramping up much quicker than I had previously expected.

I live about 2 miles from the ocean, my inlaws live feet from it. I work a so/so job in an industry I love (sailing) and have access to a boat whenever I want. For me to make a move now with a 3.5 year old and a 2 month old will be almost impossible.

Even if you are an anti-gun person you can't be happy with laws that look to be written by illiterate people and governments that allow laws with so many grammatical errors to be introduced.

definition of terms are hierarchical. Defination #1 "Assualt Weapon" is defined using 3 terms that have not yet been defined (assault rifle, assault pistol, and assault shotgun).

That Bushmaster Carbon 15 thingy must be extremely dealdy since it is enumerated twice (#21, and #57) as a banned weapon.

I:m sure if I spent more than 5 minutes I could find more.
