I was browsing the drudge report and read about possible gunfire on the Potomac river.

Turns out the Coasties were just "training".

In an incident that sparked panic and confusion Friday, the Coast Guard said it conducted a training exercise in the Potomac River moments before President Obama and his motorcade crossed a nearby bridge on its way to the Pentagon to commemorate the eighth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Coast Guard Chief Keith Moore said despite earlier reports, no shots were fired as part of the exercise.

Coast Guard spokesman John Edwards said references to shots fired were picked up in radio chatter. As part of its exercise Friday, the Coast Guard aired simulated instructions to participants to fire 10 rounds. But Edwards said there were no shots actually fired and there were no suspicious boats.

Hey here's an idea, next time why not have Air Force One do a low altitude flyover on Ground Zero ?

I nominate the puddle pirate who ordered this "exercise" as dumbass of the year.
