The rain definitely did not keep the people in. Called it early today because of that and the rain.I wasn't planning on going out today because of the crowds, Maybe the rain will keep people in.
Good luck to all!
Those birds can run quickly, and you might not even see them.I tried and couldn't even get a single bird to flush. One guy I ran across while heading back to my car had one bird. I think that was the single shot I heard while hiking the WMA.
Nice. S'hamp? I'll be out there next week.
I love hunting with the Ithaca 37. It’s so light.

Nice. I have a small collection of Ithaca's. Yours is interesting as it has a deluxe stock but field grade corn cob Forend. Curious as to what you know about that gun.
Nice looking pup!
Does he hunt close? I notice you don't use a bell..
Finally broke the ice today with a hen. Flushed 2 others but couldn't get shots.
A couple woodcock too; seems to be plenty of those around this year.
Woodcock are wild game. Not stocked in this part of the country anyway. It's a migratory bird. They flock up and fly at night then find places to stop and feed during the day. Areas with wet soft soil and thick vegetation are the best places to find them.I know dumb question, but plenty of wild woodcock? I've seen a couple, but never when hunting. Keep in mind I'm more accustomed to hunting valley quail in CA and bobwhite and doves in the south
They taste like bloody nose.My dogs have always put up at least a few woodcock each season. I don't really target them, but they do present an opportunity for an early start to (upland) bird season.
