I just picked up a S&W Model 37 (older, pinned barrel) for carry. Is it safe to use +ps as carry rounds as long as I don't make a habit of practicing with them all the time? -Figured I'd ask.

That's an aluminum frame IIRC. I personally would stay away from +P rounds but that is my own personal view.
My copy of the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson mentions that the Model 37-3 was a "Change to J Magnum frame rated for .38+P.". This tells me that the older frame was probably not rated for +P.
