I hope this isn't a duplicate.

Are these guys serious!!!
N.J. Senate passes package of gun measures

The state Senate on Thursday gave final passage to a bill banning the sale of .50-caliber rifles, high-powered weapons that are accurate to more than one mile and popular with some firearms enthusiasts.

Way to go, you've now banned a weapon never used in crime.

The Senate also passed a bill calling for encoding firearms permit information on driver's licenses

Welcome to Germany folks.

and make it easier to confine and treat psychiatrically disturbed people who pose a risk of gun violence... Christie's plan places significant emphasis on easing the process for involuntarily committing mentally ill people who pose a potential danger.

CONFINE!!! Okay folks. The gov don't like you they can have you committed!

Firearms dealers would have access to a state database that could tell them instantly whether the potential buyer had been approved for weapons purchases by the state.

So what is that nifty little License to Carry for?

In keeping with the widely held view among Republicans that violent entertainment has desensitized society and created a climate where gun violence is more likely, Christie has also proposed restrictions on access to violent video games by children and teenagers.

We've moved from book burning to video game burning!

Just look at Japan.

let this be a warning to politicians:

nuke a country twice, take their guns, and then censor their porn and the end result is... japan.

for the less astute among us--that is a used panty vending machine.

As a registered gun owner, I have no problem with banning 50 Cal. weapons. Try hunting rabbits with one of these,if you are lucky enough to hit one There will be nothing left of the critter — Sarasota Vet

Thank you sir. May I have another?

Let's stop calling this shit "gun measures", because to a certain extent it validates the goals of the anti's which is to keep the focus on guns. Remember, the one who defines the terms and perimeters often controls the discussion. How about "freedom restriction bill", or "reduced liberty measures"?

Violent media is not to blame. Just look at Japan. They make CRAZY violent stuff, yet their streets are not flowing with blood.

It just goes to show that if you limit a people they will ooze out of the limits.

And Atilla this site just refuses to let me give you more Rep. lol

NJ water isn't even clean enough for the toilet.

"Whoever it was, they just put the lid down like it would just go away. They keep flushin it and itd spin around and make moar skid marks!"

Welcome to Germany folks.

Not really.
The "residents register" (in lieu of a better translation) carries a remark that a person (legally) owns firearm(s).
The detailed crap is kept in the national firearms database. The DL doesn't have any clue.
However, Barney Fife can access the national database.

So banning guns that cost ~$5-6k and rounds that cost $2 a pop is going to 'reduce crime'?

How many hoodrats have spare 50's laying around?

We've moved from book burning to video game burning![/QUOTE The Secret Service made comments that .50 BMG rifles can take down airplanes and helos, so they were very nervous about civilian possession of them. When the USSS gets nervous, bureaucrats, especially anti-gun bureaucrats, take quick action. This apparently is what is happening in NJ.

Japan is not a violent country? You mean like the Yakuza?
You mean like thier Karate, judo , Kendo, and Sumo fighters?
Does Pearl Harbor ring a bell? Ask the Chinese or the Koreans or even the Vietnamese this question. And it wasn't the Norweigans that prefected the Katana. Or are you reffering to just thier Samurai and/or Ninjas?

Look at their murder rate. 0.4 per 100,000 people. They have the 4th lowest intentional homicide rate. List of countries by intentional homicide rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

They WERE violent. Yes. Then we bombed the shit out of them.

There is that.
Then again the A bomb was originally developed to be used against Germany. Just a little historial annectdote.
