You mean like thier Karate, judo , Kendo, and Sumo fighters?
Does Pearl Harbor ring a bell? Ask the Chinese or the Koreans or even the Vietnamese this question. And it wasn't the Norweigans that prefected the Katana. Or are you reffering to just thier Samurai and/or Ninjas?

Prior to getting snuffed by our two nukes Japanese knew no mercy towards their enemies. Look at some photos from when they fought China...beheadings, torture and mass slayings were all routine.
