Next AWB in the works

Bills like this wil come up every single time. I think there are enough pro-gun Dems to keep it from passing.

i wish they would make a law that would get rid of the MA ban!
damn does it drive me crazy

The best way to have this happen, is to not have a federal one. Having all of these evil features available in the next state bolsters the argument that the state law is ineffective. Not that any state congress critters have enough sack to do something about it.

I'll keep an eye and ear out, but this won't materialize. Note that one of those bills was from the 110th Congress that already adjourned.

The cities would be nearly empty. Be easy to find a parking spot then, for sure.

Yeah, but then they'd all live in the sticks with us....yikes!

Man I get nervous when I hear the 495 crowd talk about siding with us out here when the cities go up in flames. Far as I'm concerned 495 is about the outskirts of Boston.

You take that back! [laugh][smile]

This is why party affiliation is a hoax. Not all republicans are freedom loving constitutional preservers. It's just that more of them are then democrats are or seem to be. Today we see republicans taking on the values that were of the democrats not so long ago, and democrats taking on the values of all out socialists. Of course this is a generalization to an extent. But not far from the truth. Remember that not so long ago the ruling party of the south was the Dems who were for less government and individual freedoms/states rights, and Abe Lincoln who was of federalism/nationalism views and destroyer of state's rights was a Republican. It's come full circle and then some since then. Party means nothing to me. It changes decade to decade, I vote based on the individual's policies and history.

Give it long enough and the Republican party will turn into Marxists. Don't believe me? John McCain's self proclaimed hero is Reagan. Yet John McCain is all for social programs like taking taxpayers money to pay the mortgages of those who made terribly dishonest and irresponsible decisions that got themselves in the crisis that they are in. Nevermind amnesty to illegal alien criminals and so on and so forth. And how about the bailout plan? Yes I am still voting for him as the lesser of two evils because the other evil is a flaming racist socialist individual rights hater who would bend over and let the UN run the USA if he could. So when it comes to McCain sure a lot of people complain that he's more like a Democrat than a republican, but how many other Republicans can we now say that about? I don't have faith in the party anymore and I haven't for a while.

since MA is already under one, is the federal one being proposed more strict then the one were already stuck under?

Yes, read HR 1022, for example. It is modeled after California's AWB, which is stricter in a couple ways. First, it only allows one evil feature. In other words, you can't have a pistol grip since the "removable magazine" is the first evil feature. You also can't have a thumb-hole stock, which is put in the same category as a collapsible stock.

But get this, the proposed federal AWB is even stricter! It also makes a barrel shroud an evil feature. That is basically the forward grips that go around the AR-15 barrel.

There might be additional changes, but I can't recall. For example, in CA you cannot transfer, inherit or sell any pre-ban hi-cap mags. In addition, it might establish a California style attorney general assault weapon list. Sort of like handguns in Mass, the AG can add any semi-auto to a list of banned handguns.

Some of us are trapped inside 495 due to circumstance, not preference.

I'd like to move outside the 495 belt. About 2600 miles outside the 495 belt, actually.
