New Policy Allows Police To Shoot At Fleeing Cars

Well, what's a few more shootings a day in shit-cago? [thinking]

Hmm, if the Feds force the states to make texting while driving a felony . . . [rolleyes]

I hope this comes to MA because, what could possibly go wrong with officers shooting at cars in metropolitan areas? I'm sure that the officer in question would have witnessed the felony first hand that gave cause to shoot into a crowded city street. We would of course discount the multitude of felony qualifiers on the books of course like old school and obscure laws that no one knows about like interfering with a Bus Driver, or cohabitating after a divorce...

But now, officers need not be under attack to open fire.

I can see it now. Cops breaking out their AR's blasting away at fleeing suspects. Innocent until DEAD.

, allows police officers to shoot at fleeing vehicles if the driver or passengers are suspected of committing a felony.

According to this, a cop can shoot at someone stealing a car.

So if I see someone committing a felony, I can shoot at the bad guy too?

Someone tries stealing my car, POW!, right.

(assuming I'm in Shitcago)

oops I forgot, one law for them and one for us.

RE: People shot.

Bullshit. How could this possibly happen? Everyone knows Chicago has a gun ban and therefore, nobody could possibly have discharged a firearm within the city.

Seems to me that would run afoul of Tennessee vs. Garner.
Chicago runs afoul of logic, reason and reality... What's one little SCOTUS ruling gonna matter?[laugh]

[thinking][sad2]

Another fine step in the progression of raising the stench up to reach the upturned noses of the willfully ignorant electorate in this nation...

I'll take it as good news on that front... [thinking]

Is that sarcasim? [rolleyes]

I can't believe it took me so long to figure this out........why don't they just outlaw cars for all civilians in Chicago that way the police don't have to worry about stray rounds.

Problem: too much crime and violence
Solution: arbitrary application of additional government power

I wonder if these cowards ever consider personal responsibility as a solution to anything? I guess it's better to have "the only ones" firing at moving vehicles to apprehend suspects than to allow the commoners to own or carry weapons for self defense. On the upside, anything that makes Chicago worse is probably a good thing in the long run.

Its on the edge. [smile]

But interfering with a Bus Driver, or cohabitating after a divorce are MA felonies...go figure.

Whoa whoa whoa. Security please escort this gentleman from Massachusetts from the chamber, he is obviously experiencing a mental breakdown of sorts.

So...if a cop shoots at you while fleeing (or simply driving away without realizing you're fleeing) can people shoot back in self-defense?

The new policy, from police Supt. Jody Weis and confirmed by WBBM Newsradio 780 Wednesday morning, allows police officers to shoot at fleeing vehicles if the driver or passengers are suspected of committing a felony.

Oh yeah, this policy will last about 20 minutes after the City Attorney takes a meeting with some of the local sharks. If not it will last five-seconds after the first lawsuit is filed.

The COP out there is such an idiot that if you stuck a pencil in his butt you could call him Stupid-On-A-Stick.

Not just words to live by...that's my new sig line.

"ALWAYS RETURN FIRE"

Neat! I have this odd sense of accomplishment now. Anyway, this seems axiomatic to me. When being shot at one is either (a) innocent, and morally allowed, perhaps even required, to shoot back, or (b) deserving, and thus clearly lacking the sort of moral character that would impede returning fire. Either way, no need to over-think it because the answer is always the same. Always return fire.
