Got my RESTRICTED LTC-A on Thursday and picked up a Walther P22 to get my collection started. Went to S&W in Springfield with a buddy and fired 400 rounds in the Walther, 50 rounds in the Sigma (the guys on here are right, it sucks), and the 22-A (Which was very accurate, just ugly).

Was thinking of the Ruger p95 next but found out it's not on the MA list. So thinking SR9 now.

The 22A may be an ugly duckling but it is an excellent pistol. Reliable and accurate. If you're looking for a first gun choice it will not disappoint.

Good luck with your p22. I have owned one and it wasn't my best investment for sure. I have heard some people loving them but the other half hating them. I was lucky enough to sell my gun to a dealer for $250. ( I paid $270 for it when I bought it brand new).

P22's are fun little guns.

I wouldn't knock the Sigma too much - I have one in 9mm and it is a great pistol.

I don't believe I've ever had it jam or misfire, it's a breeze to take apart and clean and the trigger loosens up a bit over time.

I have a P22, it's not bad. It's lightweight. Most of the 22 semi autos I see are 35-40 ounces unloaded. I do have some longevity concerns about the P22 though, but S&W's warranty is good so we'll see.

Congrats Bump, nice choice, I love my P22! SR9s are okay, I just don't like magazine relase button and the safety location. But play with it a bit and to each his/her own. In that price range also take a look at the M&P9 and 92FS which are awesome semi-autos.

I held an SR9 the other day. It felt REAL nice. The only downside is it does not take the older P-series magazines, so in MA you are limited to 10 rounds. I bet you can find a P-95 used fairly easily.

I found some P95's online but was told by FS that it's not mass complaint and that can't do the transfer.

I have the P22, I used it in my classes until I picked up a MKII. I love my P22, I never have problems with it...it fires great. I once out about 10K rounds through it without cleaning it to see how well it would work. Never had a problem.
