My son and I went to the range to save the world from dangerous fruits, one piece at a time. It is his 14th birthday today and he shot pistol for the first time. We used two .380s: a 1936 M34 Beretta and the 1915 M08 Colt. He handled all of my pistols to see what felt comfortable, and chose the Beretta. He used 95gr. Prvi JHPs (1100fps) and I used 50gr. Liberty hollow points (1500fps). He went after the pumpkin, I took out the cantaloupe.

Range 10 feet. The damage was much more massive with the Liberty rounds. The cantaloupe damage is from one round; it leaped off the berm and flopped and rolled down to us. I turned the Liberties onto the damaged pumpkin and blew it in half with one shot; three more turned it into pate. The M08 behaved perfectly.

I plan on restoring the front sight to factory at some point.
