Well It's Memorial day weekend again. A bunch of the old Nam vets will meet again at the memorial ceremony that my town has and chat it up a bit as well as pay respect to the local guys that went before us. It's after the ceremony that my mind really wonders back to the days of 1968 and 1969 and to the guys that became my family away from family. Who would think that we could become so close with former strangers in the time allotted. We humped the same ground, carried each others gear, shared virtually everything watched each others backs and told stories about the cars we would get when we got back home. The hell of it is that so many of those guys never got home. It never fails that on this upcoming weekend my mind wonders back to each of them and thoughts of them and the cars that they would get if they could only have come home. I got my GTO when I got home. Sure wish that they had all gotten their cars.
FYI. That GTO chewed up every Chevelle SS396 that it ever went up against.
