MA Compliant S&W M&P 15

MidwayUSA has the full size ACE skeleton stock on sale right now for the amazing price of $59.00. Beats that fixed telescopic crap hands down.

Not even a comp? Shame...For that money, I'll be looking for a pre-ban lower....

Street price is about $1300, not $1700.

In the grand scheme of things, $1300 for a railed out BUISed AR
is about par for the course commercially.

FWIW, I'm glad it does NOT have a comp. Most .223 comps are
terrible/worthless, with a few exceptions here and there. (the
ones that come on JP rifles, for instance, actually appear to
do something... the cheap comps just make the guns louder).

When it comes to AR's I do have the same line of thinking as you,
though.. I'd rather fork over the extra $300-600 and get a preban
lower and not have to deal with the dumb restrictions.

I don't know why they don't just put ACE stocks on ALL the
neutered rifles, or at least standard AR stocks. The pinned collapsible stuff is terrible.

If they were smart they would ditch the fake adjustable stock, throw on a Magpul PRS and charge $150 more than they do. I think more people in the neutered states would give it a look. That pinnend adjustable is just junk.

The problem with adding a PRS to that kind of rifle is it adds like
another pound or whatever onto the weight. The PRS is nice but
it certainly is heavy. I agree that the pinned telestock is
obnoxious, though, it's like they're taunting you- eg, "HA HA! You
can't adjust it. MA sucks." It's like having a reminder of how
awful this state is permanently attached to your rifle. [laugh]

Well, S&W does work harder than most/any manufacturer to make their guns MA compliant.

Always remember that if you ever move, that stock can be replaced with the standard collapsible in minutes.

Remember also that PRS stocks will add another $240.00 to the price of the gun. This gun is too much for too little....

Stag Arms, (maker for Smith and Wesson) assembled lower with A2 stock: $250.00
Stag Arms complete upper: $495.00
Troy BUIS sight set: $250.00 (less if I can ever get the group buy off the ground)

Total: $995.00

Figure a bit less if you build your own from scratch.....And these were the first prices I found on a quick search.

Thought S&W had started making their own components.

They may be assembled at Smith and Wesson, but components are made elsewhere - from Shooting Times article:

The flash suppressor is the A2 military style. The upper and lower receivers are fabricated from 7071 T6 aluminum, manufactured in the U.S. by an independent contractor to Smith & Wesson's specifications. The machining, assembly, and final-fit matching of the parts are done by hand in S&W's plant. The single-stage trigger is factory set for a maximum break weight of seven pounds. All three versions feature standard sling swivels plus an additional side-mount front sling swivel for two-position sling option (swappable to left-side or right-side).

Word on the street is that Stag Arms is the "independent contractor"

Agreed, but in all fairness we didn't add in FET. (11% ?) So if
this was a "completed rifle" it would be about $1105 and not $995.

If one is pricing out a build, they will always be able to beat the
manufacturer by a bit because of the obvious tax dodge.

So apparently, in the case of S+W one is paying for the "name" and
a (lifetime?) warranty.... I would presume Stag would at least
stand behind their product for some reasonable amount of time,
though. IMO in a rifle warranties aren't that big of a deal to
me... as long as I'm covered through "DOA" to a year thats probably more than enough.

One interesting thing.... is the forend a stag arms product, too, or
is it from some other vendor?

Is the PRS MA legal? I wondered about that since it is adjustable.

There's a thread on here that discusses it, and IIRC, I think the
consensus was "yes" because it doesn't really meet the term "collapsible".
