My friends are taking me out to MFL for my bachelor party and we were going to rent a RPD or the M60. I was thinking of going with the M60. What are your thoughts?

I'd go for M60, make sure you get a wig, red bandana and wrap yourself in a long belt:

7.62x39, ... just get an AK.

my reasoning:

1. M60 - 7.62x51/.308 60-80 = cents per round surplus
2. RPK - 7.62x39 = 20-25 cents per round

also

how many people own RPK = very many
M60 = very few
*rarity factor

just mine $0.02

It will be range ammo though, so I'm sure it will be marked up quite a bit.

is there some Russian holiday that I'm missing, I haven't had any vodka since afternoon:

If it was between an M60 and a PKM - that would be a tough one.

This one: M60, hands down!

RPK, PKM ... OP is talking about RPD, not a Kalashnikov.

M60 all the way. I carried one and while it was a pain to carry at times it was worth it when it came time to shoot. Me and the pig in Germany early '80s.

I was across the channel (England) in the early 80's, carrying the m60 sometimes. Although being AF we just had to carry it to our APC's and if needed mount it onto the machine gun turret. I loved shooting it though. The ammo cans where more of a pain to carry though. It was a long walk to the APC from the armory (lol).
