I'm pretty sure that I saw an ammo can full of enbloc clips either at Four Seasons in Woburn or Collector's in Stoneham on Saturday.

How much do they sell for? Is there anyplace on the net to get them. I have also just got my Class A, so this is my first fire arm. Do you know of any Good instructional manuals that will help me load, fire, clean the gun? Or is there any places that other M1 owners go to shoot that I could learn from them? Maybe an M1 instructor? Mine is a SA 1943 with a replaced barrel in 1952 along with the reAR site and bolt. I just got it back from a gunsmith who checked it out.

I didn't check prices, as I have enough . . . I bought my ammo with clips from CMP when I got my M1s.

If you are near Braintree, Braintree R&P has CMP matches on the 3rd Saturday (9AM IIRC) each month. There are some very serious M1 shooters that attend and run this event. http://www.brp.org/html/cpm.html

Try http://www.jgsales.com/ for Enbloc clips. They have them for around .50 each and cheaper in quantity. Resist Ebay where they get a $1 or more for them. As for manuals the CMP site has a great online step by step series for stripping and putting back together.
Manuals can be had on Ebay, the gun auction sites or online surplus stores.
Sounds like you have a rearsenaled rifle. I have 2 M1's both from the CMP a Springfield and an H&R. When I bought them, they were $500-525 each, Service Grade.
The CMP site also has a search feature for John C Garand Matches. I believe there is one in Reading on 09/03 and another in Taunton in October.

Thanks for your help. I recently got my Class A. The reason I did was cuz I collect WW2 German stuff and if I had a chance to pick up a Luger from a vet I would be legal. I came across this rifle and bought it so I am a total virgin. I was able to get some good started info from the sites listed. As far as the enblocs that .50 is great I almost bought from a site charging $1.50 each!
I bought my Rifle from a Coast Guard vet who ran an antique store from his garage. I am pretty sure he bought this after the war and sold it to me. I paid $400.

Is there a good place to buy ammo cheap? I live very close to Northeast Traders in No Attleboro. I am not even sure what type of ammo ( I know its 30-06) to buy, as far as manufacturer.

Buy more than 10. 50 is a good number to have and yes, you use them over and over again. There's nothing wrong with using them over, they're very sturdy.
In war time many were just used once but they were also reloaded when in short supply.
If you find ammo (Korean) already loaded on clips, it is more than likely corrosive. Make sure you clean your rifle accordingly.

I got 400rds of Korean at the Marlboro show last winter. I think I paid $80-90. CMP is a great way to go too.

Not exactly. The full info is here, do a search.

The short answer is:

- CMP operates under authority of Congress. They require a copy of your LTC and thus DO ship into MA.

- Many mail/phone/Internet dealers did NOT do "due diligence" and require a copy of your LTC, adult sig or anything else but a valid cc. The AG ran a "sting" and caught about a dozen (check AG's website for press release for his strutting his stuff) that did this, fined them and threatened them with persecution if they didn't sign a "consent agreement" (extortion) to NEVER sell anything into MA again! Many other dealers heard about it and are running (away from MA sales) scared.

- Some out-of-state dealers will ship here. BUT if you learn of any do NOT post names here, or they WILL BE DELETED by the Mods. The AG, CHSB, EOPS have had their goons cruise eLists and forums for such info to "burn" good dealers. Only give such info out to trusted folks PRIVATELY!

You should try to attend a Bay Colony Weapon Collectors "meeting" . . . they are actually swap meets that are held at Braintree R&P on the 4th Monday of each month, 7PM. The focus of the group is anything WW2 or earlier, although some of us stretch it a bit.

Since it depends on who attends and what they bring with them, I'll say "usually no, but you never can tell". You DO need to be careful, as there have been a number of Lugers for sale as "original" but with suspiciously new looking black finish. Funny thing is that I have a German capture Luger (my late Dad took it off a German Army Major at the end of the War) that doesn't have a finish anything like what I described above!

Attendance has been light in the Summer time, so I think that September should have more variety. BTW, the gun show in Marlboro in September (24 & 25) should have some genuine WW2 collectors selling there.

There are plenty for sale on eBay, sometimes at good prices. But do beware as CMP sold a bunch of rusty clips (sold as rusty clips) a while back and some folks are a little exuberant over their condition....

Also if you go to a Garand or CMP shoot, ask the club. Braintree R&P has a couple 55 gallon drums full of clips. They sold me a handful for a buck. At the Garand matches at Reading they still have ammo in clips.

Four Seasons had very good prices on Korean. I bought a bunch of Danish from MidwaysUSA a couple years ago, though, so haven't fired any.

This is kinda off-topic. But I have a Mosin Nagant M44 and I'd like to pick up a few stripper-clips for it just to play around with.

I've found places where I can buy 20 packs of them, but frankly I'm really only interested in maybe 2-3. Does anybody know of a place that might have a few?

Here in Mass I've tried Coin Collectors, 4 Seasons, and Roaches, and also I check in the Kittery Trading Post, and none had any.
