Looking to add a sling stud

I have a fiberglass McMillan benchrest stock and I want to add a front swivel stud to it. Is there a special stud I should use or anything special I should know?

Check McMillan web site , they used to sell kits.

I would think you want one that has a flange backing?

I might go as far as installing a aluminum or brass pillar to line the screw hole?
