Local marine killed in Afghanistan

Rest in Peace, Warrior. [sad2] Semper Fi

I assume our MCL Detachment will join up with the Cape Cod MCL Detachment for the service.

[halfmast]

Those who have to bear the ultimate burden are the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines families. I pray God can comfort them in this hard time, it makes the troubles and pains we all face kind of trivial in the grand scheme of things.

Cpl. Nicholas Xiarhos, Thank you for protecting my freedom and paying for it with your life. I cannot begin to repay you and all the other brave soldiers that have given their lives in service. This is what makes this country great.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

One of my co-workers was close with him. She's heading home for the funeral on tuesday.

Rest in Peace, Marine.

I personally knew Nick. He was my best friends cousin. I can't say enough good things about Nick. He will be missed greatly.

RIP

FYI.... Posted by the Cape Cod & Islands Council BSA.....[sad2]

Nick Xiarhos arrives home tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10AM. Around 10:30 he will be escorted down Route 28 from the Hyannis line to the four corners, intersection of Route 28 and North Main St., where they will then head up Station Avenue to Route 6A and down Setucket road and then return to Hallett Funeral Home.

On Friday at 9AM a funeral procession will leave Halletts Funeral Home and head south on Station Ave to Route 28. Then they will travel Route 28 to the Greek Orthodox Church. (Church seating is very limited so if folks want to pay respects they can attend the wake or line the route.) After the service (time to be announced) the procession will head down Route 28 to Route 151 and then to the National Cemetery.

All are invited to join together on Route 28 near Christopher's Restaurant/Pirate's Cove to pay their respects as the procession passes by, both on Wednesday and Friday. We will meet at 10:00 AM on Wednesday and 9:00 AM on Friday. Ample parking is available in this area. Please be in uniform and bring your US and Unit Flags.

Upper Cape units may wish to select their own locations along Routes 28 and 151 for the procession to the National Cemetery on Friday morning.

We are still looking for a few volunteers to place some ribbons and flags on telephone poles along a portion of Setucket Road, Route 6A, and Willow Street in Yarmouth Port. The ribbons have been cut and grouped into strips of ten. Please contact the service center if you can help with this project.

R.I.P. soldier.

I didn't know Nick. I know his father, (Officer "X") who was frequently at my high school. Good guy. I assume he's being as strong as he possibly can be for his family right now.
