Ok NES brainiacs, this one has me a little stumped. A good friend picked up this Baby Browning clone with a supposed WWII backstory, but I can quite figure out what it is exactly. Admittedly, I’m not very well versed in handguns of that era. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
It's an automatic pistol.
Caliber: 6.35mm Surface To Air Missle (Heat Seeking)

So the story that was told to my buddy is that this pistol was a spoils-of-war battlefield pick up from Normandy. However, there’s no concrete evidence of this other than word-of-mouth family stories.
Looks close, but that one looks like it has a trigger pin that my buddy’s gun lacks, and the different engravings. Thats the problem I’m having, is that so many companies made variants of these pistols.
Its very likely a .25ACP, 6.35mm is the Euro colloquism for .25ACP. Astra did make a copy of the Baby Browning called the Astra 200. The Astra guns appear to have "ASTRA" marked grips.
I'm willing to bet there's some Spanish proof marks on the barrel.
