Technically, it's not "used up" until I shoot it, but last night I looked in the trash barrel in my reloading area and was surprised to see 9 empty powder bottles.

  • 580 rounds of .460 mag = 4 lbs of H110/W296
  • 1850 rounds of 10mm = 2-1/3 lbs of Power Pistol
  • 300 rounds of .500 Mag = 1-1/2 lbs of Lil' Gun
  • 240 rounds of .30 Carbine = 1/2 lb of Lil' Gun
I think I've got to start buying in bulk.

I'm guessing you'd save a ton buying the 8#ers. When I ordered it last, my 8#er of HS6 came out to $16.50 a pound with hazmat, etc. I just have it shipped to relatives in RI.

I don't know how that compares to gun show pricing.

Pool with a bunch of buddies, find someone with an FFL, and order a minimum of $1000 in powder/primers from Beikirchs in East Rochester, NY and there is no hazmat - they run their own fleet of ammo trucks.

And I thought I loaded a lot. I cleaned and reloaded ALL the .45 brass I shot and "found" on the range Sunday; about 700 rounds. I then switched plates, dies, and primer tube and loaded about 500 rounds of 9mm. I use W231.

Our local Rod and Gun club does this. The sale last year was a "To Die For" event. I did quite well thank you.[smile][smile]
