Everyone has their own preferences.
I had 2 SDB's, a 550 and a Rock Chucker mounted on my bench at one time.
The SDB's worked well but if I hadn't gotten them for very little money I don't think I'd buy one.
Setup took more time than the 550.
The conversion kits and dies are expensive.
They only do pistol cartridges.
I use my 550 as a progressive for any rifle or pistol caliber I own.
I can also use it as a turret press, a single stage or anything in between.
Prices and warranties are what they are these days.
I remember when the Lyman 1200 came out.
I bought one and it worked great.
I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread and tubeless tires.
Until - one day when I was working with max H380 loads in a 308.
I blew a couple of primers.
I pulled down the remaining loads and they were all exactly 10 grains over.
I sent it back to Lyman a couple of times then gave it away to a friend with a warning about it's reliability.
I bought a RCBS Chargemaster and thought it was the greatest thing since the Lyman.
Loaded a shit ton of ammo with it until one day -
I watched the weighed charge slowly increase.
It kept creeping up. 57 58 62 64 87 grains.
Called BCBS, spoke with a pleasant young lady who told me to wipe it out with dryer sheets but the warranty was only one year.
It was 13 months old.
It's up on a shelf in my reloading area, covered in dust.
I have videos of the scale doing it.
Dillion has always treated me right.
I was loading for a match one evening and dropped the primer bar on a cement floor, broke the prime stem off.
Didn't have a spare so I called Dillion, told them what happened and ordered two spares kits.
I also needed to spend the $$$ for overnight shipping as I had a match to attend.
The order showed up 24hrs later.
The invoice was $0.00
That's one of my stories and I'm sticking to it.
