Surveillance videos show woman stealing machine gun from east Bexar County shooting range

SAN ANTONIO — A machine gun is reported stolen from a gun range in east Bexar County. The theft happened two days ago at LoneStar Handgun, according to the owner.
Multiple surveillance videos shared with KENS 5 capture a woman walking into the retail shop, renting the gun and leaving the property with the firearm on Friday afternoon.

Hate to say it, but bad policies by the gun shop. You have to walk out to the parking lot and around the corner to get to the range? No escorting? Not hard to jump in your car and drive away with it.
Hopefully they got the license plate of the car.

The range owner said she arrived just after 2 p.m. and vocalized interest in purchasing a gun but wanted to test out some firearms first. The woman filled out a liability form and was rented out a handgun.

well there you have it. she must have given her current, proper name and address (show ID?). Just go to the address on the form and get it back.

The staff member who also rented out the firearm didn't follow the policy in place to prevent theft's like this from occurring. Felker said the employee accepted cash from the woman instead of a credit card for the transaction. Staff also later realized the I.D. card, which is kept in exchange for a rental, did not belong to the woman and wrote fake information on the liability form.

Oh. Nevermind....

Next up- ban MG rentals.

No, next up, federal prison for some dumb broad, probably an easy 2yr or more stint at a minimum, add also, an ATF agent getting a high moisture count because its likely a softball arrest and conviction. [rofl]

Not sure if serious nearly every rental range I've ever been to if someone who is stupid enough, if they really wanted to steal a rental gun they could literally just walk out with it concealed or something, the thing is, they'd be stupid to do so because their odds of getting caught are 100%, they have the persons ID, or a copy of it, and a whole bunch of other things.

This isnt exactly a brains kind of decision by the thief.... [rofl]

Well a thief certainly wouldn't lie or give a stolen credit card. Read about stupid thieves, one went into a bank and fainted, another stole a beer truck and left his school books in the truck. My personal favorite was a guy that held up a bank, the demand note was written on the back of his personal checking deposit slip, in that bank.

She was familiar enough with their routines she pulled it off without raising any eyebrows. She's been there before. If they keep video footage they'll find her in past visits and perhaps on one of those she used a card or her own id.
