How do you decock a S&W 41 target pistol?

I've just purchased a S&W 41 and was wondering how to decock it. I don't want to dry fire it and the hammer is hidden so it cannot be lowered.

pull the trigger there should be enough clearance; if you can't bring yourself to do that and you're worried about damage where the firing pin falls, put in a spent 22lr in the chamber, close the action and then pull the trigger. I don't recommend the spent cartridge because accidents can happen.

This is what I do with my bullseye pistol. Can you elaborate on your remark about accidents? I don't follow you.

What Vellnueve said. I've had a '41 for many years and have never decocked it. I do place a chamber flag in it for safety reasons.
