'Gun laws are stupid': The Europeans pushing for looser gun controls

Possessing firearms is the "measure of a free and open society", one UK-based firearms advocate told Euronews.

"All of us just want common sense gun laws.” Gun laws in favor of Gun Owners

‘Allow good people to defend themselves'

The Czech Republic's law "is very streamlined, allows people to carry firearms and focus on vetting who gets a license. Most gun laws focus on technical minutiae and miss the point entirely," claimed the Italian from Milan.

There are many reasons why some advocates want to see more guns in Europe.

Favaro – who owns three pistols, three rifles and a shotgun – claimed "being able to carry a firearm deters violent crime, especially those that by nature are committed against victims of opportunity."

Experts fiercely contest this claim that guns protect people, however.

"Gun ownership doesn't make society more dangerous, as can be attested by countries like Switzerland with its high gun ownership or the Czech Republic, where any citizen can carry a firearm and many do so."

"Both are some of the safest places in the world."

Ukraine streamlined them. When they got invaded, if you had a Ukrainian passport they’d hand you an AK and one loaded magazine.

One whole magazine, huh?

Sort of like when the Soviets were defending Stalingrad. One guy gets a Mosin and one clip of ammo. The next guy gets a clip of ammo. Following guy gets a gun and ammo. Next, ammo. Within a few minutes of battle, the # of rifles and soldiers were about equal.

Once gun control is in place, you won’t be able to vote people into power who will change it, no matter where you are. You can’t vote away tyranny. You can’t even have a pen knife in your pocket in England, there’s no way they’re getting any gun ownership rights restored without an overthrow of their entire government, which also will not happen

common sense gun laws are so different depending on what side your on. that'll be one thing that can never be agreed on.
I am constantly amazed at how many Cambridge-types think MA has common sense gun laws and they're either "just right" or could use a bit more tightening.

It is indeed a very subjective phrase. So many beliefs are based on conclusions with no basis in reality....training...registration...live fire standards...none of which has any significant benefit

Cambridge-types are fine with absolute gun restrictions because either they have no interest in guns and therefore think they are unnecessary for the "common people" to own, or their own status gave them access to what they want and don't care that the "common people" are restricted.
