Gun, ammo shortage. Mags...no problem

Triple threat of lockdown-riots-election causes guns and ammo to be in short supply with prices, especially ammo prices, through the roof. Reloading components followed suit. However, magazines seem to be in good supply with relatively normal prices. In my limited experience, mags (especially AR, AK and Glock) tend to be bought up along with everything else but that doesnt seem to be the case this time around. Anyone have an explanation? Ive read there were something like 5M new guns owners this year. Are they content with what the factory shipped with the gun? Are existing gun owners content with their stash?

From what I have seen only gun owners that actually use their guns innately know that sticking with just the 1-3 mags that came with the gun is retarded. Those of us that know better, get
cold sweats when we have less than 6 mags for a gun, and even then that is usually only considered " a good place to start". New people don't "make the connection" and they're not going
to buy extra mags unless you upsell them. As someone who has, on and off, worked at shops over the past (decade?) new gun owners only ever seem to buy extra mags if- A- you upsell
them/convince them its a good idea and B- they have extra cash in the budget to do it.

It’s going crazy full retard.
This Hk91 was sold on auction this weekend for $10,000 +21% auction fee

Does the site in question actually do anything to stop shills though?

Ebay and other sites are replete with shill bidders, it would not shock me if Gunbroker, GA, etc, had them too. IOW, this auction might have been the result of a shill who was a little too ambitious. If that gun reappears from the same dealer a week later it's because their shill got a little too froggy. A lot of them do this crap to just hype up the product and raise the price of it downstream...

I just did a quick search for Glock mags. 10 rpunds. Just because most of us are in MA.

Most places are out of stock. The very few places that habe something, either I never heard of them or they are between 20-50% more expensive than a few mknths back. The Glock store is full retard at double the price.

So, at least Glock doesn't seem to be in stock. At least the 10 round mags for those that live in the socialist Republic of MA.

The problem with 10s is they make less of them. It is weird on some skus you can only find 10s and on others no 10s and only normal cap mags.

You can find some on ebay, no problem. But sometimes you will pay more than market, etc.

Maybe its just the 10's. TBH I saw a thread on another site that brought up the fact that mags werent experiencing any supply issues and the first couple of sites I checked had a hundred different flavors of Glock and AR mags in stock and at normal prices.

Also MecGar is having serious f***ing supply issues because they're in italy. I have no idea if the factory is still closed or not, but because they make nearly all Sig mags, it's f***ed up mag availability for things like P365s, etc. Some of those guns are only coming with one mag now, with a coupon to get the other mailed to you when they come back into stock. It would not surprise me if some P365 buildouts are held up at sig because sig doesn't want to ship guns without magazines.

Mags are going to dry up. Just look at Glock mag prices they’ve gone up at most retailers.
Mags for stuff like AR's, AK's, Glocks, Beretta 92s are in such huge supply that I cannot imagine they will, but they could. The issue is if you can't get more ammo to stuff your mags with, you're not likely going to buy more mags.

Less popular, newer model guns that don't have the decades of existing may run into a mag shortage issue. If I was one of the new gun owners this year and I had, say a Kel Tec PF9 or a SCCY and those only had two mags, I would buy a few more.

The prices on Glock mags going up is part gouging, part demand. Glock mags will always be available, but not necessarily from local retailers because they can't put in orders for hundreds of them like MidwayUSA or Cabelas or other online retailers can.

I haven't bought a magazine in a store since... 2014.

That was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw that, shilling is always a threat, it happens on eBay and in major auction horses. Tough to prevent it. Not that I know much about that gun in question but I would wager that it’s probably not a 10K gun.

Only 6 mags? Seriously? My newest carry/self-defense gun I went and bought 20 17rd mags for it. It only came with 3 15s and we know that is not enough. I already filled 6 of them with self defense ammo. The rest will get used for range/training.

Fewer did not seem to make sense.

Wow you just wrote something I never thought of before. Keeping some extra magazines loaded with range ammo and others loaded with self defense ammo. All of my mags have range ammo. But it seems like I need more mags I'm afraid to say how little I have lol ;)

Being a new AR owner myself, I can't find pre bans that aren't charging rape like prices.

You'd figure being one of the most popular guns on the planet, there would be plenty of pre bans at pmag prices.

Same goes with Beretta mag prices.

Unless I don't know where to look, but I've been digging.

I mean, they are more money or the same money for my house usp full size mags.

In stock online

American Eagle XM855 Eagle - for $0.93/rd * 150ct = $139.99
.223 Tula Steel case 55gr - for $0.62/rd * 20ct = $12.49
.223 Aguila 55gr - for $0.78/rd*50ct = $38.99

This is insane

A friend came over yesterday and I asked how he's doing on ammo - he was short. I gave him 40rds of 223 Winchester Razorback XT and 50rds of 9mm Remington 115gr JHP

I did this, but with 7 for my usp.
4 defense ammo and 3 range.

My Beretta, I only have 2 mec gars at the moment.
My pre ban eagle mags for it are unreliable as all hell.

My c308 is all range ammo with around 10 mags. 3 I just found out I need to replace yesterday.

My ar, I did it with 2/3 10 rounders I have for self defense ammo

I was just talking handguns. When we get to ARs and number of mags, that is not a discussion I am prepared to have other than to say I considered reenforcing my floor in one place. full 30rd AR mags are heavy when stacked deep enough...

CrackPot gets it^^^^^^^^ [thumbsup] [smile]

Personally I think most new gun owners are all about buying a gun and as much ammo as possible and stashing it to feel comfortable and safe. Most are not shooters and are happy with their Del Ton AR with a factory mag and a few boxes of raped priced 5.56
Dude don't knock Del Ton they actually make a very solid rifle. I have one of their m4orgery uppers I use for plinking and to beat on in training classes and stuff and it runs like a top, I'd absolutely trust it 100%.

That’s why i said “a good place to -start-“. Typically not long after picking up a new type of pistol I end up with way more than that, but it depends on what it’s used for. I have six mags for my G 44 but I’ll probably end up getting at least 10 or more total for the thing if anything so I can have them pre-loaded before I can go to the range....

Ok glad to hear it runs good for you, I’ve never owned one but was under the impression they were the IO AK type of AR’s. If I’m wrong then I stand corrected. 🍻

If it's pre-ban mags, there's a limited supply of those and people in Mass and other states with AWB/mag capacity laws have bought those up. It's just like prices for machine guns now that the registry is closed. The difference tho is there's nothing to stop you from driving to another state to buy mags and keep them under your mattress in Mass.

I was talking mags in general.

As others have pointed out, 10 rd mags for full size guns are not made in as many numbers as full capacity mags. IMO, it's pointless to own a pistol that holds 15 or 17 rds with standard mags, but you're stuck with 10 rds. You may as well buy a smaller pistol like the P365 or a single stack 9mm. Then you've got access to standard mags that will readily available.

I bought a couple 15 rounders for my M&P9c a few months ago. With the four ten-rounders I already had, that's good for that.

Have at least four mags for everything I own. Probably eight for the ARs.

Not many firefights last more than a few shots anyway though, right? Three shots in three seconds inside three yards.

I'm happy with all of my gun provisions. I am working on other areas of my life. I have enough guns to arm everyone in house and more, and enough ammo to fight a small town 🤣
Yeah I can outfit two sf 4 fireteams mags...dmr...handguns...and Ammo

I still grab mags tho whenever I go to the store... my goal was 50 pmags 15 glock mags 15 cz mags...I've since upped those.

Although honestly I just buy a new cz every time because I like them and the mags are 1/5 the cost of the gun

you can get rebuild kits for the Eagle prebans, new spring and followers and wallah. I’ve got a storm carbine and 92FS and they run great in both. I wish I could tell you where, but the interwebs know.

Similar. I have 5 mags loaded with SD Ammo for all of my carry/defense guns. I keep completely separate mags for range trips.

Not the issue, really, it's about having spare parts etc. Having more mags means you get to clean them less, too.

Mecgar CZ mags aren't that expensive, but good luck getting them right now...

MecGar makes CZ factory mags... at least for the 75s. I prefer the MecGar ones. Maybe I should order more, but I must have around 30 of them already

Cz p10f mags are like 47 bucks. And I prefer to shoot factory mags

I'm a P10 owner too, (a 10C and an 10S) and if you're paying that much you're getting hosed. Last ones i got were 35ish. Dealer cost is like 29 bucks. Mecgar might as well be factory for CZ (for the guns they do cover) but yes, for p10's you're stuck with factory.

Shooters had them for that. I like them and wanted more of them anyways so I've bought 4 more lol
