Albuquerque, N.M. – A man who broke into a home in Albuquerque was shot by the homeowner and subsequently arrested by detectives with the Albuquerque Police Department (APD). The suspect, Joseph Rivera, 32, is facing charges of burglary, attempted felony, and stolen vehicle charges once he is discharged from the hospital.

According to APD, the incident unfolded when they discovered Rivera driving a stolen vehicle in the Valley Area Command on Thursday. Employing stop sticks, the police deflated the tires of the vehicle in an attempt to immobilize it. Despite the deflated tires, Rivera continued to drive on the rims until he crashed in the vicinity of Candelaria Rd. and Rio Grande Blvd.
