Glock Generation?

That's one way. There are cosmetic differences as well. A quick Google search will give you a more detailed explanation.

The short of it.. Gen 1 & 2 don't have finger grooves. Gen 3 has finger grooves. Gen 4 has changeable backstraps and a different guide rod/recoil spring (and has a unique slide, also marked 'Gen4').

Gen 1 vs 2? I think the grip texture is different.

There's also a Gen 2.5, which is only on some models of guns, they feature finger grooves IIRC.

For MA only:
Gen 1 = Brick
Gen 2 = Only if it was in the state pre-98
Gen 3 = It's on "The List™" BUT IT'S ILLEGAL TO THE MAX
Gen 4 = Jesus **** man I SAID they're illegal!

FIFY: Martha's guide to Glocks.

You mean $1200 for a gen 4 is too much?

Well, Gen 4 18C's are around $600, so yes.

It's pretty much the younger generation that buys Glocks, instead of real guns.

If you can't find the right information online, you can also call Glock directly and they can get a tech to tell you what year it is.
