HUBBARDSTON — Two Auburn men and two Worcester women have been arrested in connection with the theft of a gun from an Old Princeton Road home.
Anthony M. Estrada, 20, of 5 Caroline St., Auburn; Gene Bourget, 19, of 1 Caroline St., Auburn; Audrey Karre, 18, of 21 Glendale St., Worcester; and Brittany Johnson, 17, of 30 Orne St., Worcester, were all arrested overnight and charged with two counts of breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony, larceny of a firearm, and malicious destruction of property valued at more than $250.
About 5:40 p.m. yesterday, police went to an Old Princeton Road address, where the owner said his house had been ransacked and a 9-mm Beretta handgun had been stolen. Officers saw a broken rear window, and also found a Ford Expedition sport utility vehicle stuck in a wooded area behind the house.
Police contacted Ms. Karre, the owner of the Ford, and Police Detectives Hans Carlson and Ron Flynn later obtained arrest warrants for Ms. Johnson, Mr. Bourget, and Mr. Estrada. Ms. Johnson was arrested in Worcester, and Mr. Bourget was arrested in Auburn. Mr. Estrada was found at a Tacoma Street residence in Worcester, and with the help of Worcester police, he was taken into custody and the stolen handgun was recovered, police said.
Auburn Police Chief Andrew J. Sluckis said that after Mr. Bourget's arrest in the Hubbardston break-in, Officer Stephanie Segur received information that led Detective James Lyman to get a warrant to search his Caroline Street apartment. Chief Sluckis said police found a .38-caliber handgun reported stolen from a residence in Rutland, along with 18 grams of cocaine.
The chief said that in addition to the Hubbardston charges, Mr. Bourget was charged in Auburn with receiving a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm without a firearms identification card, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of crack cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school and cocaine trafficking.
