EFA10/ATF Form 1 Question

Ill try to be quick and to the point. I have a couple of AR lowers purchased before 07/20/2016. They have never been built into a functioning rifle, hence I haven’t EFA10’d them yet. I’d like to SBR them and do a ATF form 1, but do I need to EFA10 them first as a legally 16” rifle, or wait until I do the SBR build after I’m approved (if I ever will be) ?

ATF will approve them, read through the NFA sub forum, lots of people have been approved.

If you EFA10 them after you get the form back then registering them will only allow you to register as a handgun because the barrel is less than 16”. (It’s stupid but so are the people who make up our laws). If you register them before as a rifle then there is no need to re-register.

Protip... assemble the lower before spending 200 bucks on the stamp only to find out you registered a bad reciever.
