DEVAL PATRICK BLAMES GOAL FOR LACK OF PROGRESS ON GUN BILL

letter going to Deval and others tomorrow:

Dear Governor Patrick,

I read with dismay the recent State House News Service bulletin your comments blaming the gun lobby for delaying H.4102’s progress.

Perhaps it’s not the “gun lobby” who is holding this up but rather informed, reasonable legislators who understand that lawful gun owners are not the ones roaming the streets committing mayhem and ending lives.

Perhaps the legislation is being held up by informed, reasonable legislators who know our legal system is so broken we do not punish those who break the law.

Perhaps the legislation is being held up by informed, reasonable legislators whose constituents to choose to exercise their Second Amendment riots are sick and tired of being treated like second class citizens while licensing in this state is “may issue” rather than “shall issue” and are subjected to a barrage of arbitrary and illegal conditions when trying to exercise those Second Amendment rights.

Perhaps if you, the legislators and the law enforcement ranks focused on identifying, arresting and punishing criminals we’d all feel safer in our communities.

Well Said.
